Auguste Chopard (1803-1878), ép. Henriette Olympe Marchand (1812-1856), était fabricant d'horlogerie à Sonvilier des années 1840 aux années 1870. L'une de leurs filles, Laure Chopard (1837-1884), a épousé Louis Frédéric Auguste Krieg (1828-1863), pasteur à Sonvilier. Une deuxième fille, Olympe Mathilde Chopard, a épousé Théophile Frédéric Gerber, banquier à St-Imier.
