    Buildings

Inaugurated in 1894 under the name of the Evangelical Building, the Rameaux Building housed a chapel, a day-care centre, the Christian Unions, the Croix-Bleue (Red Cross), a student residence and a café fighting against the evils of alcoholism. It is one of the witnesses to the region’s former spiritual activity.

The building was renovated in 2010 to house the Mémoires d’Ici and the CEJARE institutions.

    Holdings

The CEJARE currently holds more than 90 fonds or groups of archives (approximately 800 metres of linear shelving), which document the life, operations and know-how of the industrial fabric of the Jura region during the 19th and 20th centuries.

The sectors that are particularly well represented are:

    • watchmaking
    • machine tools
    • mechanical engineering and precision machining
    • construction
    • trade unions

The documentary wealth is therefore likely to facilitate a wide range of studies on the Jura region: the history of companies, the history of work, social history, innovation, management, etc.
